Missing history: bits and pieces

Soooo...as I am wont to do, I was checking out my Twitter tl, and I found this nugget of baseball history that I had no idea about:


First off, thanks to Chuck D. Second (and most important), I never even suspected that any league did night games before MLB. Speaking of sports, I also heard a report on NPR this weekend about how post-Civil War horse racing was dominated by black jockeys for several years, until white jockeys and horse owners drove them out of the sport.
